My designs have appeared in various magazines and in the books "Tatted Jewelry" and Tatting With Beads Jewelry" published by Annie's Attic.
Split chain in shuttle tatting
Tatting a split chain. This technique is useful when a pattern continues from the middle of a tatted chain. It allows the tatting to continue without needing to cut the thread.

Where can I find the thread to buy
To find good thread for tatting, I suggest doing an Internet search for tatting thread or crochet cotton.
Amazing 😍
oh that is just too cute❤

Asalom alaykum qoʻlingizdagi foydanilgan narsani nomi nima
The tool is called a "tatting shuttle" in English, "navette" in French. In Spanish tatting is "Encaje de Lanzaderas", in Italian it is "Occhi" and in French it is "frivolité". In Turkish it is "mekik oyası". I hope this helps.
I love it!
Oh my gosh! This is just too awesome 🎉❤❤❤😂
I think that a nice triangle in red with the beads could be the base for a strawberry 😎
Thanks to teaching this beautiful Shuttle Tatting Flower
I taught myself 35 years ago from a booklet. I haven't done much since those first few years but decided to pick it back up. Your video and instructions are great! Thanks!
Marilee 👏, I just finished my first SHUTTLE TATTED motif. It is this pattern. Thanks to the way you demonstrate and teach. You helped me get over the fear of the thread and to be able to manipulate it. That helped me so much! Tysm!
Thank you! I'm glad it helped.
Amazing work! Super!
Beautiful and so clever! Thank you 🕎
Please share the pattern description
The pattern is called "Cadenza" and is in my Etsy shop "Yarnplayer". (Link in bio)
@@MarileeRockley thank you
😔I can't see how you start out with that loop?....
Hold onto the thread when starting. In the video it's shown at 0:16. Just hold onto the thread and begin tatting as for a chain.

😍
What brand of thread do you use. I was successful in making my FIRST CHAIN!
Congratulations on your first tatted chain! The brand of thread I use most often for tatting is Lizbeth.
Tysm for this instruction.! 😊🌷
Tip for people that do this the first time. Dont do it With a DIY cardboard. It is gonna make it too hard
Thanks for this video. You are a great teacher. My mother had a shuttle, but she didn't know how to do it. Watching this video, I've learned it quickly. The way you teach is awesome. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ From Sri Lanka
This is a great demonstration of bead placement in a split ring. This is also a beautiful piece you are making. ❤❤
Thank you for the tutorial! The tip to leave less thread than I think I'll need is very good. I had troubles with loose split chains myself.
Wonderful tutorial, Marilee! 💕
I am curious what the wheel / button thing is on your tatting??
I’m making the Steampunk Belt pattern and when I got to the split chain in it I decided to video the split chain as a demonstration.
Gracias por enseñar tan magnífico trabajo
😮😮😮 djeeez o so not easy I see. But o so cool and beautiful 😍🥰😍🥰 iam going to search for beginners patterns. What kind of yarn do you use? Thank you.
The thread for tatting needs to be very smooth, so that the double stitches slide easily on it. I personally like Lizbeth or DMC Cordonnet Special, but any smooth crochet cotton should work well for tatting.
Wauw....first time I see this. This is very special. 😮 But o no so easy. How is the blue plastic "needle" called please? I would love to find it and more of this kind of work. 😍 Would love to take it a try, but don't know where and how to begin. Any tips? ☺️
Thank you! 🥰 The plastic tool is called a tatting shuttle. I was going to suggest the “Tatting Simple Motif” video but I see that you are already there! Many other people are posting shuttle tatting videos on UA-cam and elsewhere online, so just keep looking. If you’re interested in a step-by-step video course I also have 2 of them on the Craftsy website.
❤❤❤❤
Thank you very much 😊
Danke schön ❤❤❤ Super Idee ❤❤❤
Vielen Dank für die super Erklärung ❤❤❤❤
Hi,.🌼 This video has found me again,.so I’m going to try to make this motif again.
Always a pleasure
Ingenious, you're in Much nicer than Elgiva's. Thank you for sharing <3
That is so clever, and fill a real gap in holiday tatting! Thank you for working on this.
You are amazing ❤
I learned to tat with your Craftsy videos back in the day and since then I tatted many of your patterns. You are a natural born teacher and I thank you very much for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you. I always have to look at the instructions before doing this. The video helps.
I find it very strange the way you work... always saw the shuttle go in and out without turning it around. Maybe it's just my perseption but I find it very difficult, therefore I prefer to use the most common style. ❤
Yes, that’s correct, I do tat differently than the more common style of shuttle tatting. It’s because I was self taught, learning from books in the 1970s. The Internet didn’t exist yet and I didn’t know any people who did tatting. So my style looks different, but the action of the threads is the same. Do what is comfortable for you, and have fun!🥰
@@MarileeRockley You are very sweet. I also learned by myself watching magazines... many years ago! Congratulations! ❤️
Actually magic! I hope to get into tatting after finishing some other crafts! Excited to use this video later!
Thank you for so clear explanation! I’m happy your video was the first ever video about tatting in my life.
SUPER
I just stumbled across this video when watching crochet videos and half way through I ordered myself some shuttles. This is so amazing
Maravilloso!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
These look amazing! I’m wanting to get into tatting, what size of thread would you recommend for a complete beginner?
A larger thread is easier to see when learning. I'd say a size 10, or a size 5 or 3 (the smaller the number, the thicker the thread). A variegated or multicolor thread is great because it helps to see how the stitches are forming. Even using 2 different solid colors will help to see if the stitches are forming correctly.
всё гениальное просто ^_^
Mam, you are an amazing teacher ❤❤❤ thank you very very much.
I found this extremely helpful for learning to tat thank you so much! I made quite a few mistakes along the way, but I'm looking forward to progressing on this!
Thank you so much for your PDF pattern! So lovely design!
